Jonathan Sosa

Jonathan graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.S. in Physiology & Neurobiology as a pre-med student. Part of his involvement at UConn included neuroscience research studying Parkinson’s disease and anthropology research exploring the cultural rituals of the Mauritius island inhabitants.

Aside from research, in 2018 Jonathan served as co-founder and president of the American Medical Student Association (AMSA) chapter for three consecutive years. AMSA provided resources like physician shadowing opportunities, community volunteering, MCAT prep. He additionally took on the role of public relations within the chapter to plan yearly mini-symposiums for the pre-health community.

As he proudly built AMSA’s presence at the institution, Jonathan also took up the role as vice-president of RESULTS, another student-led chapter organization belonging to a larger national organization. In this role, he oversaw chapter members’ interests in lobbying to Connecticut congress members about issues related to poverty and health disparities on a local and national level. He organized additional symposiums related to these matters within the organization.

Jonathan’s clinical experience involves working in a high-volume emergency department assisting nurses and physicians with patient vital signs and medical chart records. Ultimately, his plans are to relate his role as a physician to fiercely serving those living with HIV/AIDS, while also integrating his passions of filming and writing into the mix.
